Olympic Weightlifting Masterclasses with Team GB Weightlifter + Commonwealth Medalist Jess Gordon Brown
These masterclasses are designed for weightlifters, crossfitters or fitness enthusiasts alike who wish to improve on their technical proficiency of both the snatch and the clean/jerk.
Workshop Outline:
Participants will perform either the snatch or clean & jerk and receive feedback and corrections throughout the workshop. Workshop includes time for questions and an opportunity to see her Commonwealth medal at the end.

Handstands For CrossFit:
This workshop runs through the basic principles of a handstand. Combining technique, strength and flexibility preps to allow all who participate to get he most out of the workshop. Suitable for both beginner and intermediate levels.
Workshop outline:
- - Introduction to the art of hand balancing
- - Techniques used by professionals to maximize balance capability
- - Strength exercises to increase body tension
- - Flexibility exercises to help with range of movement specifically around the hip and shoulder joints
- - Step by step stages with exercises to help gain confidence being upside down
- - A variety of ways to approach reaching a stable handstand
- - Handstand progressions and how physical aids can help to enhance handstand ability.

Gymnastics Skills for Judo:
This workshop approaches judo techniques from a different angle.
Learning how to incorporate basic gymnastics principles into traditional judo practice and utilising them in competition.
The class covers 4 basic gymnastics principles:
Mobility - hip and shoulder flexibility Being supple in these areas reduces the chance of injury and can open up more technique opportunities in both groundwork and standing. Strength - core, hip and shoulder strength Enhances power production and acceleration when performing skills. Can make or break a submission defence. Stability - understanding balance and body control Learning body control allows fight the judoka to remain tight and maintain a neutral posture during randori. This also gives the judoka the ability to quickly adapt to situations in a fight. Proprioception - the ability to know where one's body is in the air Learning to understand and grow proprioception skills are useful in teaching judoka where their body is in the air during a throw and how to manipulate their positioning during flight to avoid a score being given in contest. |
Jess holds a 2nd Dan black belt in judo and has competed for Great Britain on a number of occasions.
She has also dedicated a fair amount of time to training in both Brazilian Jujitsu and Boxing. |
